We see and experience the world differently and we each have something to teach another and to learn from another. When we break bread together, we come to know each other in unique ways.
The New Year is convenient times in my life but I recommend looking at the rhythm of your life and look for the natural breaks or cycles that you are already following.
This experience had me reflecting on the nature of self-care and what is truly renewing to one’s spirit. I allowed myself to be porous. I removed the protective gear and let God, through creation, restore me.
So if we are to live into the identity God has called us to— a people who will not forget we were slaves—we must listen to those in our midst who are still living under oppression.
When what I want is justice, release from oppression, a stop to the violence, waiting seems more destructive, not hope-filled.
