Be the Last to Speak

Ministers may think that they want honest input or feedback, but their actions speak otherwise. When a leader asks for input but then immediately shares their own opinion before receiving feedback, it can create several potential dynamics—sometimes positive, but mostly negative if it happens too often.

The Power of Choice

It helps to have a clear idea of the outcome you desire or what you hope to achieve. Once that is established, you need to list all of the options at your disposal, even the ones you think are bad, even the ones that you believe will result in the worst consequences.

Debating without Demeaning

We can follow the example of our Lord Jesus. We can model his humility. We can talk about others the way we want to be talked about. We can refrain from judging, from being hypocritical. We can use discernment. We can lead with love, remembering that each one of us was made in the image of God.

Self-Care or Selfish?

Your body, mind, and soul respond in gratitude when you care for them. The people in your world appreciate being around you when you are fully who you were created to be instead of a dried-up, used-up, depleted version of yourself.
